When traveling down to the south of Cambodia, make sure to make a stop at Otres Beach in Sihanoukville. This is the quieter part of Sihanoukville, and even though the ones empty stretch of beach is starting to get a little bit more crowded, you are still able to find your very own patch of sand. Almost every place here has an amazing view over the Gulf of Thailand, with white sand that shines in the sun!

This stunning 3-kilometre long beach is divided into three different sections; the busy Otres 1 in the North, the quieter Otres 2 in the south, which are divided by a resort development called Long Beach. Land inwards you’ll find the up and coming Otres Village.
Obviously, this is the place to be to enjoy the sun, sand, and sea. But there is a lot more what you can do here. So why not combine the pleasurable with… the pleasurable! Here are some of our must do tips when visiting Otres Beach:

Enjoy the beach: Yes off course this must be our number one thing to do when going to the beach. Enjoy it! Find that hammock in the shade, sip on a coconut and just enjoy the relaxed vibe what Otres is so famous for!

Water activities: recharged after relaxing on the beach, and want to do some active sports? Why not head into the water? At the end of Otres 1, you can find companies that rent out kayaks, windsurf boards, kitesurfing equipment, paddleboards and even surfboards. Yes, it’s possible to go surfing here, but usually between May and October when the swell is right.

Go fishing: If fishing is your way of relaxing, then Otres is the right place to be! When going to Otres Marina you can choose to use their premises to fish, or join a fishing day trip with a catch and release policy!

Swim in between the stars: Ok you’re not really swimming in between the stars, but the bioluminescent plankton might give you that feeling tho! This is a highlight of everyone’s trip to Otres – a late night swim in a sparkling ocean filled with seasonal bioluminescent plankton! Watch the sea come to live with every step you make!

There is so much more to do in the area of Otres and Sihanoukville, such as a four days Koh Kong discovery or a visit to Rabbit island. Whatever you plan to do in the South of Cambodia, we hope you’ll have an amazing time!
