For the 12th year in a row Go Adventure Asia is organizing the Phuket Marathon on the 3rd and 4th of June 2017. The Laguna Phuket Marathon attracts participants from all over the globe, who want to run through paradise.
Runners of all ages and abilities can take part in this event. Don’t let the name marathon hold you back, as along with the full 42km marathon, there will also be a 21km half-marathon, a 10.5km run, a 5km community walk and a 2km children’s race. As you can see the organization has thought about everyone for this sporty weekend away!
This year the event expects to get more than 7,000 runners to take part. Besides that, they will welcome more international runners than ever before. That’s no wonder, with such a great course. The course, going through rubber and pineapple plantations, past beach views, through local villages and tropical lagoons, make this event a true destination marathon.
The organization has split the event in two days, with 2km, 5km and 10.5km race on Saturday afternoon, and the half and full marathon on Sunday morning. This allows more people to take part while ensuring a quality experience that the entire family can enjoy. And it’s not only a fun outing. At the same time, the organization raises money for the Laguna Phuket Foundation. This platform raises awareness and funds for charitable causes and projects. This year they launch the ‘Children First Fund’ to support more than 400 orphans in seven orphanages in Phuket!
Why not join in the fun, and make this a sporty weekend away, or an extended holiday on Phuket? There is so much to do here after the run. Relax and enjoy the amazing beaches, head out into Phuket town and get to know the cultural heart of the island, join a cooking class or jump into a canoe and explore the amazing landscape of Phang Nga!
