What was once a sleepy fishing village is now an interesting first-world metropolis. Singapore is one of the smallest countries in the world (only 682,7km2), but this city-state has a big impact in the region. Not only for companies but for locals and tourists alike!

Singapore is only 52 years young, but the history dates back to the 13th century when the first settlements were established here. The country actually got its current name when Sang Nila Utama, a Prince from Palembang, thought he saw a Lion on one of his hunting trips. Thinking this was a good sign, he founded a city here and decided to name it after the lion he saw – Singapura, the Lion City.

This country is constantly evolving and reinventing itself. Over the past years, it completely changed the country for tourism. Where Singapore was first a stopover country, now many people come to visit for a city trip. And no wonder, as there is something for everyone. Here you can find food, culture, art and plenty of attractions!

Been In Asia has now included Singapore in its list of countries. Whether you’re here for a stopover or a city trip, we’ve got you covered for tips on activities and created a list of our favourite hotels. Come check it out now!
