Finding a beautiful island in Thailand is not so difficult. But finding an island which is not overloaded with tourists, not spoiled and with an authentic feeling might be harder. But not if you travel with BeenInAsia, as we know where to find the little gems

In between the very popular Krabi and all known Phuket there are 2 smaller islands, Koh Yao Noi and Koh Yao Yai, which is our goal for a long weekend.
From Bangkok we take a 1.5h flight to Phuket, we have a short drive to the pier and then a boat ride to our destination on Koh Yao Noi. What a pleasure to enjoy the stunning beauty of Phang Nga Bay! This area is known for the limestone rocks, thickly filled with jungle, dropping into the sea. We arrive at our tropical resort with lush green gardens and sweeping palm trees. A clear blue pool at the beach front, where you can spend the entire day, watching the amazing scenery. On the horizon you can see the mountains of Krabi, in the evening lit by twinkling lights of some villages.

This is our 'home' for a few days, not too bad! We can play volleybal, take a kayak to explore the coastline, sit on the giant swing on the beach or simply relax in one of the hammocks. And of course you can go snorkling or scuba diving and explore the amazing underwater world in this area of Ao Phang-Nga National Marine Park. The sea is warm, the pool is refreshing.

The next day we explore the island by bike. One side of the island is an easy flat road, the northern part is more challenging with steeper roads. It's quiet and we are amazed how 'local' it is. Fisherman houses along the beach, small local shops and some backpackers hotels. No touristic markets, no people yelling at you for a bargain. Hopefully it will stay like that.... We finish our bike tour with a nice lunch in a local restaurant right on the beach. This is holiday!
The next day we take the speed boat to Krabi, sailing in between the limestone rocks of Phang-Nga one more time before we sadly say goodbye.
