At only 30km from Luang Prabang you can find the famous Kuang Si waterfalls. It’s probably one of the most popular attractions here; not without reason as it’s absolutely stunning!

This is the perfect place to have a hike and be treated to a cooling swim in one of the ponds afterwards. And even though there are plenty of people around, you can’t help but marvel at how stunning it is here. The waterfall falls in spectacular pools with bright turquoise water.* It’s beautiful to see how the water flows over the limestone rocks, turning the pools into this remarkable colour.

If you’re up for it, hike along the side of the waterfall to the very top. The first things you will see are the stunning pools of water in between the jungle. Don’t stop here, as there is much more to explore. Just a short stroll away, the second cascades are waiting for you, with their huge pools of water dropping down the next and the next and the next… All being surrounded by incredible beautiful trees, which provide a bit of shade.
Keep on walking, as you’re not at the top yet! When you hit the small wooden bridge, you know you’re almost there. Just around the corner you’ll find the Kuang Si Waterfall with its 50-meter drop. An impressive sight!
From here you could hike another 15min or so to reach the top pools – a great place to enjoy a picnic and dive in the water with the swing ropes provided.

Join us on the Rice is life & Kuang Si Waterfall tour to spend the day engaged in two of Luang Prabang’s most highly-rated activities!

*In rainy season the waterfall is much more impressive, however, the water can turn slightly brown due to the strength of the water coming down the waterfall.
