Are you still looking for a reason to visit Singapore? Even though the country is very famous for its airport and as a stopover island, we got several great reasons why this would be your next weekend getaway, or why you should add a couple of days to your stopover here!
Let’s just start with the cultural diversity that can be found on this little island. The country has 4 official languages, being English, Tamil, Malay, and Mandarin. So you can imagine that all of these cultures are represented here. Not only in the different neighborhoods (just think about Little India, Arab Street, and China Town), and national holidays celebrated (from Chinese New Year to Deepavali, to Christmas Day and loads more!) but also in the different kinds of foods that are being served.
Talking about food, this is something where the Singaporeans are really proud of. If you’re a foodie this is paradise, as you can go to a hawker center and enjoy a delicious meal for under US$10 (there is even a stall with a Michelin star right now!) or you can venture out to the high-end restaurants that keep popping up all over the place. We can already taste the delicious traditional Singaporean dishes like chilli crab, laksa, and hokkien prawn mee!
The architecture is another reason for a trip here. This city blends the old with the new – from the colorful neighborhood Joo Chiat with its iconic shophouses to the innovative skyscrapers like Marina Bay, or the impressive Gardens By The Bay.
There’s something to do for everyone visiting. You can shop ‘til you drop in amazing warehouses filled with the most amazing brands, or find that special little something on one of the many flea markets around town. Just keep an eye out for the yearly Singapore Sale where you can have a great bargain!
Every September the Formula 1 craze starts, as this is the month that the city is turned into a real-life Formula 1 circuit. And of course, we shouldn’t forget about the WTA Finals that are being organized every year.
Besides that there are loads of great artist stopping over here, to entertain you with amazing concerts. Or you could head on over to one of the many activities, such as the Singapore Zoo (you can even pop in at night, or have breakfast with the chimps), Universal Studios on Sentosa, have a look at the amazing Gardens By the Bay (with its tallest indoor waterfall!), or play a round of golf on one of the many different courses around.
These are just a few of the things that would make us jump on the plane and fly to Singapore right now! But before we do, let’s make sure we find the best hotel for our trip. You can find our preferred hotels here.
