You read that right; hidden places in Angkor Wat. They still exist. And you don’t have to get up early morning to beat the crowds either. You just need to know where to find them, and how to get there. And that’s why we are here!

For instance, have you ever heard about Banteay Chhmar? Probably not, because this might be Cambodia’s best-kept secret. This enormous temple complex can be found hidden in the jungle within a 2-hour drive from Siem Reap. It’s the 4th largest Angkorian temple in Cambodia, but because it’s at such a remote location, most tourists don’t even give it a chance. It’s definitely worth a visit though, and if you only drive another 12km more, you’ll find another amazing temple called Prasat Samnang Tasok, which is entirely taken over by the jungle. The ‘Tomb Raider’ (Ta Prohm) temple is nothing compared to this one!

If your goal is not to only see the world famous temples but to get to know the real life as it currently is in Angkor Wat, then you must definitely join this Angkor Tour by Vespa. You’ll visit the most interesting sites away from the crowds, such as the Baksei Cham Krong, but also the Royal Pool built for the king’s wives (Sra Srong). It’s not all temples we’ll visit. After a delicious Khmer lunch, you’ll visit a small village in the heart of the forest. This self-sustaining rural community makes traditional handicrafts from ornate wood carving to musical instruments. They will show you all about it! Along the way, your guide will tell you more about life in Cambodia after the Khmer Rouge.
In between all these visits, we’ll also stop at the more famous temples as well, as you can’t go to Siem Reap without seeing the sun set behind Angkor Wat!

Sounds interesting? You know whom to contact if you’d like to go off the beaten path in Angkor Wat!
